The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that corruption in municipal appointments in West Bengal is worth more than INR 200 crores. The ED sources revealed on Saturday that there has been significant rigging in the appointment of municipalities.
This revelation comes after the arrest of Toonmool youth leader Ayan Sheel, during which thousands of documents related to municipal corporation appointments were seized. These documents reveal a substantial amount of money has been transacted in the municipal recruitment scam.
Trinamool leaders who are in contact with Ayan will also be questioned. The pressure on the ruling party has increased after evidence of corruption in the appointment of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation surfaced.
